Asim Ali Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, delivered a keynote address at the 11th International Youth Conference (IYC11), organized by the International Organization of Youth (IOY) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The event brought together emerging leaders and changemakers from around the world to discuss global challenges and shared opportunities.
Youth as the Driving Force of Pakistan’s Future
In his remarks, Mr. Khan spotlighted Pakistan’s vibrant youth population, which comprises over 60% of the country’s demographic under the age of 30. He emphasized that this youthful majority is powering a wave of progress and innovation, especially in the IT and digital economy sectors, where Pakistani freelancers and entrepreneurs are making significant contributions on the global stage.

Empowered Women, Empowered Nation
Mr. Khan proudly noted the growing role of Pakistani women in all areas of life—from education and healthcare to leadership and technology. He emphasized that Pakistani women are standing shoulder to shoulder with men in building a stronger, more inclusive nation.
Recognizing the Pakistani-American Diaspora
The Consul General commended the Pakistani-American community for its exceptional achievements across fields such as medicine, engineering, law, academia, business, and entrepreneurship. He described the diaspora as a vital bridge between Pakistan and the United States, contributing not only to their adopted homeland but also enhancing Pakistan’s global image.

Pakistan’s Clear Position on Peace and Regional Tensions
Turning to current regional issues, Mr. Khan addressed the recent Pahalgam incident and firmly outlined Pakistan’s principled stance on peace and responsible diplomacy:
- Pakistan unequivocally condemns terrorism in all forms and strongly denies any involvement in the Pahalgam attack.
- The disinformation campaign waged by segments of the Indian media is both irresponsible and damaging to regional stability.
- India’s history of politicizing such tragedies for domestic political gains continues to obstruct meaningful dialogue and peacebuilding efforts.
- The false narrative of victimhood pushed by Indian leadership seeks to deflect from their human rights violations and silence the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination, as guaranteed under UN resolutions.
- Baseless accusations, made without evidence or an impartial investigation, reflect an attempt to weaponize terrorism rhetoric, incite religious polarization, and distract from India’s internal governance and human rights failures, particularly in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).
Mr. Khan stressed that Pakistan remains deeply committed to regional peace and stability, but reserves the right to safeguard its sovereignty and national interests with unity, resolve, and all means at its disposal.

Engaging Global Youth with a Message of Hope
Concluding his address, Mr. Khan extended his gratitude to the International Organization of Youth and UCLA for hosting a powerful platform for youth engagement.“It was a privilege to connect with such an inspiring and diverse assembly of young leaders,” he said. “Youth are not just our future—they are our present. Together, we must build a world anchored in peace, innovation, mutual respect, and collective progress.”
