The 2nd Anniversary of Pakistani Heritage Month was celebrated in New York City, marking a monumental occasion not only for the city but for the entire United States. The celebration stands as a proud testament to the efforts of the Pakistani American Law Enforcement Society (PALS), a dedicated group that has worked tirelessly to bring this dream to life. Together, we are on a mission to honor and celebrate Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, laying the foundation for future generations to take pride in their roots.

The event saw the presence of many esteemed leaders, including Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Consul General of Pakistan in New York, NYC Mayor Eric Adams, a representative from the New York State Governor’s office, and Edward Mermelstein, Commissioner of International Affairs, among others. Their presence underscored the significance of this celebration and highlighted the importance of embracing our diverse cultural heritage.

A year ago, PALS had the honor of announcing that Ambassador Masood Khan officially proclaimed Pakistani Heritage Month, making it an annual tradition. We are deeply grateful to Mayor Eric Adams for his unwavering support and for recognizing the invaluable contributions of the Pakistani community to the cultural fabric of both New York City and the United States.

As we reflect on this historic milestone, let’s continue to embrace the values of unity, diversity, and inclusivity that define our vibrant community. Let us take pride in our heritage and keep building bridges of understanding and respect across different cultures and generations.
